Dr. Garret Andersen
Dr. Garret Andersen is a native of Southern California. His undergraduate studies were completed at Cal State University of Fullerton. He earned a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences (LACC). Post graduation he earned certificates in Chiropractic sports injuries, rehabilitation, sports medicine, and Manipulation under Anesthesia.
Accumulating years of extensive experience, Dr. Andersen developed his techniques working with professional and amateur athletes. He traveled internationally with the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP), providing on site medical care for the World Championship Tour.
He also traveled nationally with the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) as an associate director of sports medicine. He has also provided medical services for many professional sporting tours including: Professional Bull Riders tour, Mountain Dew Boardercross series, Xterra Mountain bike series, professional rodeo, and the Ballet Pacifica. As an athlete himself, Dr. Andersen understands the unique and competitive needs of athletes. Dr. Andersen co-founded Newport Spine and Sport with Dr. Tim Brown in 1992. He is currently acting as clinic director.
Dr. Steven D. Dreyer
Steven D. Dreyer, DC was born and raised in Corona Del Mar, California. He graduated from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1987,and continued his education by completing a three year postgraduate course of study in the highly acclaimed Chiropractic Orthopaedics Program. This led to the achievement of diplomat status with the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists, as well as recently being named a Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (F.A.C.O.), a distinction earned by approximately 800 of the 60,000 licensed practicing chiropractors in the United States. Dr. Dreyer is also a certified Disability Evaluator and has served as a Qualified Medical Evaluator in the state of California for 14 years.
Dr. Dreyer has established a broad based practice by integrating the benefits of chiropractic with that of physiotherapy modalities, massage, nutrition and exercise rehabilitation. He has also been providing custom foot orthotics to his patients for the past 20 years. This unique combination of therapies has proven very effective in the treatment and prevention of a broad spectrum of health concerns and injuries.
Due to his interest in providing complete health care, Dr. Dreyer has incorporated nutrition, exercise and preventive measures into his practice.
Dr. Dreyer is an avid sports enthusiast having competed for years in duathalons, triathlons and cycling events. His experience and ongoing education provides Dr. Dreyer with a vast knowledge base in the treatment and prevention of sports injuries. In addition to these treatments, Dr. Dreyer has included nutritional support for athletes in his practice.
Due to his background in Chiropractic Orthopaedics and his interest in providing specialty care for complicated injuries including, but not limited to: whiplash, back, and neck injuries. Dr. Dreyer has simultaneously been actively involved in the specialized treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction. Dr. Dreyer works closely with dentists, oral surgeons and orthodontists in the treatment of TMD cases. He is one of a select number of chiropractors who are trained to provide extensive pre- and post-operative care for TMJ Syndrome patients.
Currently, Dr. Dreyer is practicing at Newport Spine & Sport in Newport Beach, California, where he has been since 1996. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists, a member of the American College of Chiropractic Orthopaedists and a member of the ITA (Interdisciplinary Temporomandibular Joint Association).
Dr. John A. Pecora
John A. Pecora, DC is a Deans List graduate from Southern California University of Health Sciences, and has been a part of the Newport Spine and Sport team since 2002.
Dr. Pecora started as an intern with Dr. Tim Brown, the Co-Founder of Newport Spine and Sport, Director of Sports Medicine for the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals), and former the medical director of the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) and Ballet Pacifica. Dr. Pecora moved his practice to Newport Spine and Sport when Dr. Brown retired, and continues to work closely with Tim and his new company DrBrownDesigns.com.
